For the many gamers which love both smartphones and some mobile gaming, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is great news and it was just released in the United States. Verizon is the carrier which has the phone and the normal price for the phone is $200. The best price for it though is the one offered by Amazon.com, which sells the phone for $99, together with a new two year contract, so a $100 discount over the regular price.

Another advantage is that Amazon delivers the Xperia Play for free, and you will have it in under two days. This is the first phone to be PlayStation certified and it also comes with Android 2.3 on it, the first one from Verizon with this OS.

At first, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will be available only on Verizon, but that will eventually change. The price of the phone at Verizon will be $199.99, as long as you get it together with a new contract, for two years.

The OS on the Xperia Play will be Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the most recent Android OS available for smartphones. Even though this phone is not a dual core model, the performances offered are still decent and you should certainly take a look at it if you love playing games, since it comes with a gamepad which slides out and allows you to play PlayStation games on it. The phone will have a number of games loaded on it, including Sims 3, Madden NFL 11, Asphalt 6 and a number of other games. In time, more games will be released for it.

Xperia X8 is following the example of other handsets from Sony Ericsson and receives updates for the Android 2.1, after that Xperia X10 mini and mini pro have already received the OS from Google. The Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro in the video is a SE model that comes with a TFT capacitive touch display of 2.55 inches, a full QWERTY keyboard, accelerometer, 128 MB internal memory, a microSD slot and HSDPA connectivity.

The X10 Mini Pro has also a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, Led flash, geotagging and video capture at 30 fps. The handset has also a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor of 600 MHZ and suns the Android 1.6.

Sony Ericsson has a lot of models supporting is supporting simultaneously features. The newest models are called Spiro and Zylo. These are two sliders with a nice capability at an “affordable entry point”. If you look at the specifications, the company clearly manages to do the job and meet the goal. First, the Spiro offers a 2 megapixel camera along with a 2.2-inch QVGA display. On the other hand Zylo ups the ante with a 3.2 megapixel shooter with geotagging, a 2.6-inch display, 3G, and some advanced audio capabilities. These models are created for “selected markets” and will be ready on the market in a couple of weeks.
