Acer makes a lot of cellphones and now they are offering Liquid telephone in North America. They will release it during spring and Rogers will be the carrier for it. They are also the first carrier in Canada that offers Android 2.1 phone (not counting the upgradable Milestone, of course). In case you missed the its debut at MWC, the Liquid e packs a 3.5-inch touchscreen, along with a slightly underclocked 768MHz Snapdragon processor, a 5-megapixel camera, 7.2Mbps 3G and Wi-Fi and, of course, a basic implementation of Android 2.1. Still no indication of a price or exact release date, but Rogers is promising to say more as that approaches.

A few weeks ago Acer announced Liquid, the first Android smartphone but they mentioned it without revealing too many details. But here are some interesting details we found out about Liquid. First of all, Liquid is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor, 1GHz Qualcomm QSD 8250 Snapdragon, to be more precise. But it seems that it will be running under-clocked at 768MHz. It packs 256MB RAM and 512MB Flash ROM. and the OS will be Android 1.6 Donut. Acer Liquid also has a 3.5-inch 800×480 capacitive touchscreen a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS support, and WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity. The phone comes features built-in digital compass, G-Sensor and ambient light sensor. All in all, an interesting phone.

Besides the unveiling of neoTouch, Acer bring another goody on the phone market: Liquid, (aka Acer A1). This is the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon processor based Android phone and the the first to have Android 1.6 Donut OS. The phone is not is the first SnapDragon smartphone but one of many along with HTC HD2, Toshiba TG01 and Acer neoTouch. Acer’s Liquid could be called the Android version of the neoTouch and has a WVGA touchscreen display plus smart integration of Facebook, Twitter, Youtube,  Picasa and Flickr in the address book. Among other features there is an optimized camera with geo-tagging, ISO, self-timer options and accelerated auto-focus performance.

Photographed with the models as usual, the smartphone comes with a WVGA display of 3.8 inches, very similar to the HTC Touch HD, including the virtual keys. Also we find that many features of the operating system were borrowed from both iPhone 3G and the famous combination of Windows Mobile/TouchFlo 3D.

The F900 Acer will be on sale in Hong Kong at a price of 550 dollars.
