Motorola SURF A3100

Motorola announced for this year’s CES the eco-friendly Renew W233 mobile phone. This is a very pretty candybar that will match perfectly with T-Mobile and has all components made from recycled water bottles and a neutral carbon footprint.

Next to the Renew W233, Motorola will also present the 3G-enabled Tundra VA76r flip phone especially for AT&T fans. This latter includes a very useful push-to-talk feature and was officially announced to be available in stores starting with January 13.

Last but not least, the WinMo 6.1-based SURF A3100, also known as Atila boasts with a splendid 2.8-inch touchscreen and a Moto-special skin. In addition to all that the phone features a 3-megapixel autofocus cam, 7.2Mbps triband HSDPA, microSD card support and AGPS.

For the time being the SURF is available on the Asian market and we’re expecting to hear fresh news about a stateside launch.

Nokia Presents The T-Mobile-Branded 7510 Supernova

Nokia just added on their official website a new and sparkling T-Mobile- branded 7510 Supernova.

Unfortunately the Finnish manufacturer decided to ditch the AWS 3G and release an EDGE-only 7510 flip phone. When it comes to specs list, the Supernova offers a QVGA screen, a hidden secondary display, a 2-megapixel camera (with LED flash), FM radio and obviously a microSD expansion.

Considering that Nokia presented several T-Mobile devices at the 2008 CES I guess that probably the same thing will be happening also this year. We’ll have to wait and see but until then we can only say that the 7510 Supernova will be available on the market in aquamarine, brown and red color versions.

Nextar’s Solar-Powered In-Car Handsfree Kits

Even if solar powered gadgets became a fashion these days some of them are quite useful and interesting just like Nextar’s new in-car handsfree kits: the NXBT-001 and NXBT-002.

The only difference between these two models is the amount of charge: the NXBT-001 offers 250h of standby time and 10 h of talk time while the NXBT-002 will only last for 150 h of standby and 6 hours of talking. On the other hand, both will use Bluetooth connectivity to provide handsfree calling in the car and will charge via sunlight.

The kits will be available in spring for $59.99 and $69.99.

Philips Xenium X620

Philips was never a top 3 manufacturer when t comes to mobile phones but even so no one can argue the reliability of their products.

Their Xenium series has nothing spectacular except for a very long lasting battery life. The X620 model sports a 2.4-inch QVGA display, a very poor 1.1 USB but… a talk time of 12 hours! That’s absolutely spectacular.

In addition to all the above the phone also features a 3.2-megapixel camera, a microSDHC slot, EDGE data, quad-band GSM connectivity, MP3 / WMA player, , a video record mode and Bluetooth.

For the time being there is no information available on pricing but one thing we know for sure, the handset will only be available on the Chinese and Russian markets.

HKC’s Pearl Has HTC Written All Over It

The Chinese mobile market will be the cozy home of all new and weird Android hardware for quite a long period of time. This is only the beginning.

At first, the QiGi i6 came out of the closet featuring both Android and WinMo compatibility apparently setting a new standard for all future Chinese devices. Now, time has come for the HKC Pearl to step in boasting an HTC-looking design. Under the case the Pearl hides a 2.8-inch QVGA display, 128MB of RAM, 256MB of ROM, a 2-megapixels camera and WiFi.

Unless you’re planning a trip to China any time soon you won’t be able to purchase one of these phones elsewhere and honestly i cannot really decide if this is a good thing or not. engadget_icebin_mini_hkc_pearl_dsc_0012

Nokia And Motorola Rule The Chinese Smartphone Market

A new study developed on the smartphone sales for Q3 2008 in China has shown that Nokia and Motorola share 90% of the sales.

According to the CCID Consulting report it seems that Nokia has a very generous slice of the pie – 69.3% selling a wide range of phones from low-end to luxurious fancy smancy devices. Next in line comes Motorola with 19.9% and Dopod with 4.7$.

As you can see the mobile industry is doing great in China but we’ll have to wait and see the next report which will provide information about sales in the middle of the economical crisis.

WriteSense Digital Pen Tech For Capacitive Touchscreens

If you were very much inlove with the stylus on your previous phone but now you use an iPhone or a G1 then you will be very happy to hear about this new gadget I’m about to present you. Apparently, folks at InPlay Technologies developed a special RF pen just for you.

WriteSense will make you forget all about digitizer because it can communicate with the capacitive touch sensors directly without any problems. In other words the market will welcome smaller and very affordable RF pens which will perfectly match all big touchscreens that both buyers and manufacturers love so much.

Maybe time has come for the classic pencil to write its last chapter? I guess not!
